Why Can’t I Marry a Turtle?
I’m firmly convinced that Bill O’Reilly is a giant douche. On the topic of gay marriage, he suggested that if you allow gay marriage it will lead to polygamy and then to allowing people to marry their turtle.
Right… because turtles can enter into a legal contract. Ass!
First off, the slippery slope argument is a weak one. If you have a problem with something, argue against it on the merits of the issue, not on what “could” or “may” happen if this bill gets passed.
You could argue slippery slope for any issue. “Oh you can’t allow F.E.M.A. aide, if you do that, people might come to expect it for personal disasters, then we’re paying out billions to for someone whose plumbing in their house went bad!”
It’s a stupid argument and he’s a stupid person for putting it forward. If the government is going to recognize any marriage, it needs to be for secular reasons. If they can find no good secular reasons as to why a person can’t marry more than one person, they should allow it.
For all the talking he did, I didn’t hear one rational argument for why poly-marriage would be a bad thing. Not ONE!
Moving on to the “Harvey Milk Day” issue he talks about…
Why the fuck not? We’re celebrating someone who fought for civil rights, not that he was gay. We have Martin Luther King day? Same shit!
Couldn’t you just see this asshole back in the 50′s picketing interracial marriage and Martin Luther King day? In my opinion he’s an idiot. The two blond scholars he was talking to didn’t help bring anything intelligent to the table either. Way to go there FOX!

Do anybody ever think of that why polygamy is prohibited ? Its not about some polygamy group wants equal right…. A law is supposed to be equal to all. Actually, men naturally have the propensity towards polygamy, but still polygamy is prohibited, because its gonna exploit women, it will suppress women, its not fair for women.
You cannot make a law particularly allow certain group for polygamy, a law must be Universally applicable to all citizen of the nation.
Now think of Gay marriage.

You cannot make law for each individual……Though free speech protects individual liberty, but it never grants hate crime….
If we make polygamy legal, it will sure gonna affect lot of women, but might help few individual group who are truly in Love….But marriage b/w two doesnt prohibits consensual living without granted marriage….

You can go one step further, and may ask to allow polygay marriage because it doesnt allow exploitation of women by men….To answer that, we cannot look it that way, its possible even men would be exploited by men, women would be exploited by women…..but still marriage doesnt prohibit consensual living together….
Laws are to protect people…its not to teach morality or affirm moral values…..

I agree . I think we're making the same argument. They need to come up with secular reasons as to why marriage to multiple people is harmful to this country. If all they can come up with are moral reasons, tough. Morality is subjective (unless you ask a Christian, then it's objective… for them) and we can't chose one person's morality over another.

You made the point that if men were allowed to marry multiple women it would, "exploit women, it will suppress women, its not fair for women. " My question to you is, "How?" You also have to remember that any woman in a polygamist marriage, would be there of her own free will. It can't be forced.
I'm not making the argument for or against polygamy. I'm simply pointing out that those who do make and argument for or against it need to have explicitly secular reasons as to why they want it one way or the other.
