The Richer You Are, The Less You Need God
Here’s an interesting statistic published by the Pew Forum. It shows that the more money you have, the less you pray.
I suppose one could look at it and say, “Well yea! The poor people are praying for money!” To which the logical person would say, “Perhaps they should pray less, and DO more.” I always thought that praying didn’t make any sense. I remember thinking it as a child. My first encounter with pray was the old, “Now I lay be down to sleep I pray the lord my soul to keep, If I should die before I wake, I pray the lord my soul to take.”
WTF!!! I remember being terrified before I went to bed, “You mean I might not wake up!!!” I think that’s a bit fucked up to say to a kid. Praying didn’t make sense to me as a kid and it still doesn’t. I just always thought of real ways to get what I want, seemed like it had a higher success rate than kneeling and talking to myself.
