What Sucks About the “Missing Link”
What sucks about it, is that it won’t convince even one religious nut. It’s really not even a “missing link”. It’s yet another transitional fossil.
Creationists look at it like this: You have fossil “A” and then you have fossil “C” and they say, “okay… if Darwin is true, show me fossil “B”? Huh… HUH? Yea, you can’t, you lose, therefore God exists, repent sinner!”
So you find fossil “C” and say, “Okay… there’s your fossil. You lose.” What’s the creationist’s response? “Now you have TWO gaps in the fossil record!” “Show me how you went from A to B! Where’s A1?!!?!?! Huh… HUH? Yea, you can’t, you lose, therefore God exists, repent sinner!” And so on and so on…
And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear you indeed, but understand not; and see indeed, but perceive not.
Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.

In other words, “There are none so blind as those who will not see.”
Ironic isn’t it?
This isn’t the first transitional fossil to be found, not by far, and it won’t be the last. There are debates among scientists on whether some of these fossils are “fish like mammals” or “mammal like fish”, and still the creationists claim gaps.
Take comfort though, as time and science progress our understanding progresses. This leaves fewer and fewer gaps for religion to find refuge.
